In Telangana, the University Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (UIAH) is a pioneer in agricultural research and teaching. Through its colleges, the institute conducts educational, research, extension education, and seed production operations. Several Research & Training Centers are found around the state. In the state, there are three agro-climatic zones that offer a wide range of opportunities for the production of horticultural crops such as vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other crops such as medicinal, aromatic, spices, condiments, industrially important plants, mushrooms, post-harvest management, honey production, gardening, and ornamentation. Horticulture is now viewed as a financial incentive for farmers because it generates a better income than agricultural products. Horticulture is an important aspect of agricultural education, with a focus on building horticultural knowledge among students. Fruits and vegetables are high-value, export-earning crops that are high in vitamins and minerals and act as nutritive, protecting foods. It is vital to gain a good understanding of horticulture in order to increase production and productivity. Horticultural crops are perishable by nature and require meticulous attention from nursery management to postharvest storage. Intensive horticulture crop cultivation necessitates the use of a variety of techniques. Horticultural College was founded in response to this need for talented, educated youth in the horticulture industry.
